02 Apr SEO: search engines
Every search engine now has to index billions of pages, for over 650 million websites worldwide. People certainly have things to say, don’t they?
Once the page, article, or product has been indexed by the robots of Google, Yahoo, and others, it must then be analyzed and recorded to be offered in search results. Based on clicks from keywords requested by users, the page, article, or product will be analyzed again to refine its relevance according to user queries. It’s quite a process, and let us tell you, it takes an enormous amount of time (several weeks, even several months!). Oddly enough, in IT, not everything is always done with a single click…
More precisely, indexing is the fastest part, but analysis and recording are very time-consuming. It is from these last two stages that we will receive requests for corrections to optimize the SEO of your site or blog. Then, refinement takes several months: action must be taken to modify certain pages, add well-chosen keywords in the texts, descriptions, or even in the title (hence the importance of the keywords that the Boss sends you every month—just saying…).
Generally, the advice available everywhere doesn’t talk enough about internal links… And yet, search engines love them! So, if this concerns you, add internal links to your site, or between your blog and your site (in both directions, of course).
The presentation of your impression in a result (i.e., the display) is also very important: the user must be irresistibly drawn to click on it. Therefore, the title (meta-title) and description (meta-description) must pique their interest. Get to your keyboards and rack your brains!
For your information, there are 4 main search engines in the world. You certainly know them: Google for 90% (on average) and the rest split between Yahoo and Bing, Yandex for Russia where it accounts for over 50% of searches. For China, Baidu is the undisputed No. 1 (it must be said that Google is banned there).
What you may not know is that Yahoo uses Bing, and the latter provides Webmasters (= website designers) with a tool (equivalent to Google’s Search Console) that allows them to monitor and analyze indexing. The same applies to Yandex and Baidu.
Consequently, the Bing engine accounts for more than 20% of searches in certain countries, particularly in Japan, but also indirectly in Europe via search engines that use Bing as a white label. At CybSyn, your site is automatically processed by Google AND Bing (upon request, the Boss can refer you to one or more other search engines).
